Annapolis and eating are almost synonymous. If you want Maryland seafood, you can find the best there is. If you want pizza, you can find numerous pizza parlors where you can eat in or have it delivered. From steaks to hamburgers to country dining, you can find it all in Annapolis.

Remember, during Parent's Weekends, Home Football games, Homecoming, and Commissioning Week there will be a lot of people in town, so you may have deal with delays since most restaurants do not take reservations. You may want to call ahead and ask how long the wait will be or if the restaurant has preferred seating. If preferred seating is available, it would be wise to put your name on the list for the next available table.

In the downtown area, there are some famous places to eat; McGarvey's Saloon in the Market area, Middleton Tavern across the street from the Marketplace, Rams Head Tavern just off Church Circle on West Street, O'Brien's on Main Street, or Treaty of Paris in the Maryland Inn on Church Street. Most of these are expensive, but the cuisine and atmosphere are both outstanding. The real plus is that if you are staying downtown, all are in walking distance.

If you are willing to drive, you can find numerous good places to dine. The shopping center areas offer a wide variety of choices. Annapolis Harbour Center (TGI Friday's), Hechinger Plaza (Outback Steakhouse), Festival at Riva (Chili's, The Ground Round, Three Brothers Italian), and the Annapolis Mall (Casa Grande, Fudrukkers, Macaroni Grill) boast many well know chain restaurants in addition to local favorites. Going east on Route 50 towards the Bay Bridge will take you to many fine dining areas. If you are real adventuresome, you might even want to cross the bridge and eat at one of the fine seafood restaurants on the other side of the bay in Kent Narrows.

A real treat is to host a brunch at the Officer's club on the Yard after church on Sundays. The price is right, it's convenient and a lot less work for you. You must make reservations as early as possible.

If Maryland blue crabs are to your liking, there are many places in Annapolis to get them hot and spicy, or perhaps you would like to purchase crabs and have a crab feast of your own. Many places in the area offer crabs by the dozen or by the bushel. However, plan to pay a fairly high price for crabs early in the season.

Wherever you decide to dine in, you are sure to find good food and service. No one should go hungry there's a place to suit every taste and pocketbook.
